Environmental issues
Sundsvall Härnösand Airport owned and operated by Swedavia, formerly LFV, is constantly working to reduce its impact on the environment. We actively work with environmental issues according to the environmental management system ISO 14001.
Since 2005 Swedavia is a carbon neutral company. Consequently the carbon emissions from our operations are compensated by funding projects that lead to the prevention of carbon emissions equivalent to the amount offset. At the moment we are funding and working with projects for wind power in China, tree planting in Costa Rica and heat production based on biofuels in South Africa.
The Swedavia airports in Sweden work with environmental related fees, making it less costly for airlines using cleaner and quieter aircrafts.

In 2008 a project was initiated aiming at lowering the energy consumption and reducing carbon emissions by 50% until 2010 in the operations of Swedavia. We are on schedule in reaching our goals and working hard towards 2010.
