Due to heightened safety measures at Swedish airports following the September 11 terrorist attacks, sharp objects are not allowed in hand baggage. All such items must be placed in checked baggage.
When a sharp object is discovered in the hand baggage by a security officer, the passenger can choose to either return to the check-in counter to check in the item or throw it away. Passengers cannot leave the object with the security officer for collection upon their return.
This security restriction is applicable to all sharp objects, for example scissors, nail files, pocket knives and cork screws.
To minimise security screening delays, Swedavia would like to encourage passengers to bear these new routines in mind when they pack their suitcases – think before, not after.

Persons with reduced mobility
Swedavia (formerly LFV) should "take steps to ensure that the needs of persons with reduced mobility are taken into account in civil aviation". LFV was entrusted with this principal task on August 1, 2000, by the Swedish government.
The underlying aim is for Swedavia to improve the conditions for persons with special needs so that they may use air travel to a greater extent. This covers those who are functionally impaired but also those who are temporarily incapacitated. Click here for more information about availability of this service at the airport.
