If you are unsure whether or not you need to apply for a visa, we recommend contacting the embassy or consulate in your country. Citizens of Schengen countries can travel without a passport, but must have a valid ID with them during their stay.

Best Time to Visit

Summer is the best season to see the Black Forest Region at its best, but it's also quite busy. Spring and autumn still offer acceptable temperatures and beautiful landscapes, but be prepared for some rain. Of course, winter is the ideal time to visit if you're into winter sports. Remember to bring very warm clothes, as in this period of the year can be quite cold.
