The largest inland city of Finland has a lot to offer. In Tampere you can enjoy everything from breathtaking sceneries of the lake and forests to culture, shopping and eating.
Lenin Museum
Everything you always wanted to know about Lenin can be found in one building, packed with relics from his life. This is where you get a chance to see the couch he slept on in Helsinki Library and to buy some very unusual gifts such as Lenin coffee and Lenin shirts, busts and posters. He lived in Finland 1905-1907.
Särkänniemi Adventure Park
Containing the tallest observation tower in the Nordic countries, you might like to try the revolving restaurant at the top of the 168 metre tower. The park has all the usual attractions with an added taste of Finland.
Moominvalley Museum
This is Tove Jansson at her best. The Moominvalley Museum is housed in the public library building, it contains a selection of her wacky characters, models and computer displays and of course a gift shop. Here you will find moomins in excess.
Rajaportti Sauna
A Finnish sauna in Finland is a must. This public sauna is Finland’s oldest and truly is a great bargain. Take your towel with you and enjoy a relaxing moment.
Tammerkoski Rapids
A walk along the river bank will give you a good idea of Tampere’s industrial past. This gives you a chance to see fountains, statues, shops and the Patosilta Bridge with its rushing falls.
Laukontori Quay
Laukontori Quay is a good place to watch the boats and while away an hour or so just soaking up the atmosphere by one of the many outside takeaways and cafés. Boat trips can be taken from here to Viikinsaari Island some 20 minutes away.
Tampere Market Hall
Tampere Market Hall is a perfect place to take in the local culture. Here you can sample some of the regional dishes and visit specialty shops at the largest market hall in Scandinavia.
Learn about modern mass communication in this impressive museum. From stone tablets to tweets you can explore the historical developments media, print and online. There is a kids programme and a tour is an educational and fun experience for the whole family.

Tampere-Pirkkala Airport is located approximately 17 kilometres from the centre. Parking and car rental services, like Avis, Europcar and Hertz, are available at the airport. Public transport
Tampere Public Transport is in charge of public transport in Tampere. You can either buy a single ticket or a daily tourist ticket. The main bus station is 500 metres from the tourist office. There are also regional buses, and express buses to Helsinki, that leave from the central square.
