Archaeological Museum of North Macedonia

Archaeological Museum of North Macedonia is a museum which features rich exhibitions from various historic periods as well as ethnographic displays, complete with costumes and models of traditional houses. The coin collection is extremely impressive and it draws attention to all the visitors.

Church of the Ascension of Jesus
Samoilova, Skopje

Sveti Spas is a small but magnificent church, built in the 17th century and is located east of Kale Fortress. In the west part of the building there is a gallery designed for women. The church is known for its iconostasis, made of walnut tree, by the brothers Marko and Peter Filipovski and Makarie.

Restaurant Pelister is a popular restaurant with good thin crust pizza and al dente pasta. The outdoor seating faces the main square and the restaurant is a part of the hotel with the same name. The quality of the service and the pleasant atmosphere will make you feel special.

Lyra is a fine restaurant with superb traditional live music every evening. They serve lovely, praiseworthy Macedonian food. The Macedonian casserole which includes pork, veal, mixed vegetables and spices is a specialty you definitely need to taste. A good idea is to call in advance and reserve a table.

Bit Pazar
Old Bazaar, Skopje

Bit Pazar is the largest outdoor market in Skopje with a history dating back to the 14th century. Here you can buy just about anything. Take your time and stroll around the stalls full of fresh fruits, vegetables, tobacco, clothes and much much more.

Gradski Trgovski Centar

Gradski Trgovski Centar is a shopping centre, conveniently located in the city centre. It has the typical shopping mall fare, but it also distinguishes from the shopping centres in other European cities. Here you will find wide range of stores offering some famous brands including stores with sport equipment and when the hunger kicks in, there are restaurants here too.

Passport/Visa

North Macedonia can be visited visa-free for up to 90 days by citizens of Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Israel, UAE and most countries in America. If you are unsure whether or not you need to apply for a visa, we recommend contacting the embassy or consulate in your country. International (non-Schengen) travelers need a passport that is valid for at least 3 months after the end of their intended trip in order to enter the Schengen zone. Citizens of Schengen countries can travel without a passport, but must have a valid ID with them during their stay.

Airport - Skopje Alexander the Great
Alexander the Great, Petrovec

Skopje Alexander the Great Airport is Skopje's only international airport and is located 21 km east of the city centre in Petrovec Municipality. Vardar Ekspres transport company offers bus connection to several locations in the city and buses run all day. They have an information desk at the airport. Many hotels offer a pickup service from the airport, so check to see if it is possible to arrange this through your hotel. If you do take a taxi, be certain that it is a taxi with an official sign. There are however, taxi cars (all in white and taxi sign numbered from 1 to 65) which are the only authorized taxis to transport passengers from the airport. They are parked at the exit of the airport building 24 hours a day. If you want to rent a car, there are 14 car rental agencies located at the airport.
